D23 2026: Star Wars Paris, Tokyo & Second Shanghai Park

We've put together a few lists of our top D23 predictions for Disneyland Paris, Tokyo Disney Resort, and more international parks. Some are more likely than others to happen and, of course, there will always be some surprises. Nothing is certain until Disney makes a formal announcement, and even then projects are always subject to cancellation, as we have learned in the past.

We also have shared our predictions for Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort.

Here's what we might hear about the international parks and Disney Cruise Line:

Disneyland Paris: Star Wars & Space Mountain

We think there is finally going to be a big announcement for Disneyland Park at Disneyland Paris, specifically regarding Discoveryland.

What we have heard is that there are plans to get rid of the Paris version of Autopia, which would make room for a large Star Wars expansion. Though Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge was once shown as an expansion to Disney Adventure World (formerly Walt Disney Studios Park), it ultimately was canceled in favor of The Lion King land.

There have been rumors for years of an original attraction starring the Mandalorian and Grogu expanding Discoveryland. With the poor box office performance of their film, it's unclear if that changes any plans, but if it didn't, we think the announcement is imminent.

While Disneyland Paris is still focusing on The Lion King land at Disney Adventure World, it seems unlikely they will announce more so soon for that park, which makes it the perfect time to finally add to the original Euro Disney theme park.

The obvious extension of that announcement would be the removal of Star Wars from Space Mountain. If there's an entirely new ride and area related to Star Wars, you no longer need Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain, and Disneyland Paris could finally bring back the original acclaimed "From the Earth to the Moon" version (a.k.a. De la Terre à la Lune) from 1995.

This announcement would bring the house down. Restoring the original story of Space Mountain is the Disneyland Paris equivalent of bringing back the original Journey Into Imagination to EPCOT or the PeopleMover at Disneyland.

Going back to The Lion King land, we expect to get a new look at that — maybe at some animatronics or scenes in development. They will also probably touch on the new Up ride, Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings.

Tokyo Disney Resort: Space Mountain, Wreck-It Ralph, Adventureland, and Port Discovery

Oriental Land Company (OLC), which owns and operates Tokyo Disney Resort, seems to have come to the realization that the U.S. audience is invested in what they're doing. OLC usually likes to make announcements on their own terms, but we think we'll actually hear big news about Tokyo projects at a Disney event.

D23 is a great stage for OLC to show off their new Space Mountain, currently under construction. Maybe we would get a more precise opening timeframe and we definitely think we would get a tease of what's going on inside this ride set to open in 2027.

The Wreck-It Ralph ride also opens next year as part of the reimagining of Tomorrowland. We'll probably hear more about the progress on that.

What we may or may not hear about is the Adventureland overhaul that Tokyo Disney teased last spring. This vague concept art showed the removal of Jungle Cruise, Enchanted Tiki Room, Swiss Family Treehouse, and possibly the Western River Railroad, replaced by several indistinguishable attractions and additions. We don't know if it's time for more details about this (or if it's even still really the plan), but it's something to keep on the radar.

Similarly, we may get concrete details for the expansion of Port Discovery in Tokyo DisneySea. This is a more pressing issue than Adventureland as Aquatopia closes permanently this September and work will then commence on whatever is coming next. We would love to know what that is that will be added to the greatest theme park ever built, in our opinion.

Hong Kong Disneyland: Avengers "Tower of Terror" Ride and Pixar Stage Show

We expect to get an update on the Avengers "Tower of Terror" ride starring Spider-Man as well as the Pixar stage show debuting next year.

Hong Kong Disneyland is perhaps the most delightful and charming Disney theme park on earth, so we're rooting for a surprise announcement on their part, but certainly don't expect a second park anytime soon.

Shanghai Disney Resort: Second Park Announcement, New Hotels

The second park announcement for Shanghai Disney Resort seems imminent. It didn't happen at the resort's 10th anniversary in June, and we think that's because they were holding it for D23. It's all but confirmed that a second park will be announced. We don't know what that park looks like, but we believe that we'll at least find out that it's happening.

Meanwhile, while we have the name and more details about Shanghai Disney Resort's third hotel, there are no details about the fourth hotel. We got concept art (above) and it appears to straddle the two parks (Shanghai Disneyland and the unannounced second gate). We might find out more about both of these hotels at D23.

Spider-Man Land officially broke ground with a ceremony held on the morning of Monday, May 19, 2025. The land is set to feature the park's first major Marvel-themed attraction — a roller coaster themed to Spider-Man, which was confirmed at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in 2024, and the final piece of track was installed in June 2026. An official opening date has not been announced yet, and we will very likely get an opening timeline and more details about the ride.

Disneyland Abu Dhabi

Of course, there's a whole new Disney park being developed for Abu Dhabi. We think it's very possible that government officials and investors will want to show off on a world stage, so it seems likely we'll hear something about this park and resort. It might not be anything concrete, maybe just a statement that it's still in the works, but we could see some new concept art of more than just a castle.

Details on New Disney Cruise Line Ships

We shouldn't expect much in the way of details on the Disney Believe as there is a major reveal planned for October, but perhaps we will hear more about the OLC-operated ship coming to Tokyo, Japan in 2029, including a name. As stated above, OLC in the past would prefer to make Tokyo Disney Resort announcements on their own terms, but perhaps we will see a shift in their strategy. We also wouldn't put it past Disney to share a little more details on the other fleet additions coming after that, or maybe even tell us that original ships, the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, are winding down their operations.
